Sometimes there are no greater friendships than those that you meet at work. I had the privilege of working with Kelsi for a year before she moved on to a different location. I'm sad that I no longer see her at work, but I love that she trusted me to take her maternity photos.

It was really important to Kelsi and her husband, Jacob, that Kelsi get maternity photos taken. With her first pregnancy, she had some unexpected complications and she delivered early. Kelsi was unable to get maternity photos done, so she wanted to incorporate big sister in the photos as much as possible. Kelsi planned ahead and brought a friend with her to help keep E entertained while I was photographing just Kelsi and Jacob. Having an extra set of hands available to straighten 1 year old E's hair bow and make me smile, was a huge help.
We chose to dress Kelsi in the black dress against the dark background for some contrast. Jacob also dressed in dark clothing. E's 'big sister' sweater went missing, but we eventually found it, and was able to get a few shots by the Christmas tree.

Jacob took E home, and I was able to get some solo shots of just Kelsi to celebrate this pregnancy.
I loved the high key lighting I used to illuminate this belly shot. The black and white edit just really tugs at my heartstrings and showcases the beauty of pregnancy.
Kelsi had a quick wardrobe and jewelry change and she switched into another gown from my client closet. This is an off the shoulder dark blue/gray velvet gown. I knew I wanted to photograph Kelsi on the gray seamless backdrop for this outfit.
Kelsi's final outfit was a pink mermaid fit and flare dress with boho sleeves. We created a vibrant boho set with the rattan chair and florals. I did a quick boho fishtail braid on Kelsi's long hair and switched out her earrings to leather teardrops. Kelsi said this was her favorite look.
Before we even started, my umbrella light decided to snap, resulting in it being completely unusable. I swapped out my lighting to a rectangular diffuser, which worked ok, but not the same size as my PLM. I'm since gotten a new PLM and I'm ready for more studio sessions! I'm so excited for Kelsi, Jacob. and their family. I have been contemplating what meal to bring them after baby arrives!
